This is a really great event coming up of which I’m glad to be a part. The Washington Park Historic District in North Plainfield, NJ is having a Victorian House Tour. Yes, that means you get to go INSIDE these beautiful mansions dating back to the 1870’s when the first planned community was built. The district is on the National Historic Register, and on December 14th, 2013 from 2pm to 7pm, you will get to go inside the homes featured on the tour and look at the unbelievable architecture and decor. I have seen some of these homes, and I can’t fathom the work that must go into it. They are so unbelievably beautiful, inside and out.
Ah, but that’s not all! Why, after your tour, you are invited to a free wine and chocolate tasting sponsored by Buy-Rite Liquors and Gertrude Hawk right across Route 22 from the Historic District (address is: 967 Route 22 West, North Plainfield, NJ.)
Ah ah! But that’s not all! This year for the first time, we are featuring local artists along the tour. My art will be featured at House #3 on the tour. I will be showing a canvas print of “Waterfall Forest Fairy” and the ORIGINALS of “Fire” and “Starlight Maiden.” The great thing about the originals is that you get to see the sparkle of the iridescent pastel in varying light, which you can’t fully capture in a print. If time permits, others may be featured, you never know!
The tour starts at Holy Cross Church (itself featured on the tour with one of the local artists) which is at 40 Mercer Ave., North Plainfield. Here you can purchase tickets which are $25 per person. If you purchase tickets in advance, they are $20.

The houses will be viewable in their full, glorious colors during the day and will be lit by luminaries at night. A horse-drawn wagon will be running the circuit to take you to and from each grouping of houses. It will be a beautiful outing, a perfect holiday treat that beats all the standard hoopla, a feast for the senses. Come on out and enjoy!
